Ramon Becerra was charged with evading arrest, a state jail felony, resisting arrest, a class A misdemeanor, and false identification to a peace officer, a class A misdemeanor. Becerra also had three outstanding warrants, two counts of possession of controlled substance, each a state jail felony, and evading arrest with a vehicle, a third-degree felony. ECSO deputies performed a traffic stop at 11:32 p.m. Monday at the 2700 block of Mercury Avenue in West Odessa, the release stated. During the traffic stop, deputies stated Becerra appeared nervous when he was asked to exit the vehicle. A computer check showed Becerra had outstanding warrants and when the deputy told Becerra that he was under arrest, he ran from the deputies, the release detailed. Becerra fell over a fence line near a game room in the area, the release stated. Becerra held onto the fence and refused to comply with deputies as he stated “he was not going back to jail.” Additional deputies arrived to subdue Becerra who started kicking at the deputies, the release stated. Pepper spray was used on Becerra and he was cuffed, but he still resisted as deputies put him in the patrol unit. Becerra was charged, arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. He’s still in custody as of Tuesday afternoon, jail records show.
