first_imgThe West Virginia University School of Medicine, Department ofOrthopaedics, is recruiting a Chief for our Physical Medicine andRehabilitation division. We are looking for an experienced andenergetic colleague with strong leadership and interdisciplinaryteam management skills who enjoys direct patient care and academicpursuits. Ability to recruit faculty and guide establishment of adepartment and residency training program in the School of Medicineis a critical aspect of this position.We have a diagnostic mix of patients admitted from our level onetrauma center and comprehensive stroke center. The scope of ourservice includes inpatient consults, outpatientneuro-rehabilitation, and treatment of a wide range of spine andmusculoskeletal issues. Opportunities for research abound withinthe PM&R division and the home department ofOrthopaedics.Our physiatrists provide outpatient treatment at our WVU SpineCenter, inpatient care at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital(a 70-bed hospital near the WVU School of Medicine), and J. W. RubyMemorial Hospital, our 690-bed acute care primary facility.Patients receive a fully coordinated program of rehabilitative careincluding physical, occupational, and speech-languagetherapies.Successful candidates must have an MD, MD/PhD or DO degree (theemployer accepts foreign educational equivalent) and be eligible toobtain an unrestricted West Virginia medical license. Candidateswith leadership and administrative experience are encouraged toapply.The West Virginia University Health System, the state’s largesthealth system and largest private employer, is comprised of 11hospitals throughout WV with the flagship academic medical center,West Virginia University/J.W.
